DELIVERY OVERVIEW

How Your Med-Mizer ActiveCare Arrives

When you order from Cleveland HME, we manage the logistics of a high-end medical device so you don't have to. Here is the physical breakdown of the arrival:

1. The "Industrial Crate" Delivery

The ActiveCare bed does not arrive in small, manageable boxes. It arrives from the factory as one massive, palletized unit.

  • Dimensions: Roughly 80"–90" long and 40" wide.
  • Weight: Approximately 450 lbs.
  • The Reality: If you buy from a national online-only retailer, a freight truck will drop this crate at the end of your driveway (Curbside). You would then need 3–4 strong adults to move it inside.

2. Pre-Assembled "Main Deck" Technology

The "magic" of the ActiveCare is the OneButtonSafeTurn™ system. Because this is a precision-engineered pivot mechanism, the bed arrives 80% pre-assembled from Med-Mizer.

  • The rotating pivot deck, the heavy-duty motors (actuators), and the main structural frame are already connected at the factory.
  • This ensures the complex rotation timing is perfectly calibrated before it ever reaches your home.

3. The "Some Assembly Required" Components

While the "brain" and "body" of the bed are together, several components are detached to prevent damage during transit and to allow the bed to fit through standard 36" doorways:

  • The Weldments (The Legs): The head and foot assemblies are separate. These determine the height of the bed (Fixed) or house the lifting motors (Standard/Deluxe).
  • Head & Foot Boards: These slide into place last to provide the "home-like" furniture look.
  • The Electronics: The hand pendant and power cords are tucked safely inside the frame to prevent wire pinching during shipping.
  • The Mattress: This is shipped compressed or protected in heavy-duty plastic, specifically designed to flex with the 90-degree pivot motion.

Installation & In Service

The ActiveCare is a "Precision Medical Device." While it arrives mostly assembled in a large industrial crate, our certified team performs a detailed 10-point professional setup:

  1. Room Preparation & Unboxing: We carry the heavy components into your room of choice. We carefully unbox, remove shipping brackets, and dispose of all industrial packaging/pallets for you.
  2. Main Frame Placement: We position the core pivot-deck. Unlike standard beds, the ActiveCare requires specific clearance to allow the "SafeTurn" rotation to clear walls and furniture.
  3. High/Low Weldment Attachment: We bolt the head and foot "legs" (weldments) to the frame.Expert Note: The Foot Weldment has the Med-Mizer logo; the Head Weldment has wall-saver bumpers. We ensure these are fastened with 5/8” industrial ratchets for maximum stability.
  4. Electronic "Link-Up": We connect the heavy-duty actuators (motors) to the control box.Cables & Wires: We route all motor extension cables through the frame, securing them with C-clips and zip-ties to ensure no wires get pinched during the pivot or Hi-Lo motion.
  5. Pendant Configuration: We sync the hand pendant and can set it to either the left or right side of the bed based on the user's preference for exiting.
  6. Headboard & Footboard Installation: We slide the aesthetic panels into the channel brackets, securing the bed's "home-like" look.
  7. Mattress Alignment: We install the specialized ActiveCare mattress, ensuring the "Heel Slope" is at the foot and the mattress stays centered during the 90-degree rotation.
  8. Pivot Calibration: We test the OneButtonSafeTurn™ system to ensure the bed deck clears the floor and the "RollBack in Place™" feature is functioning perfectly.
  9. Safety & Battery Check: If you chose the Deluxe model, we verify the battery backup is charged and the under-bed nightlight is operational.
  10. The "In-Service" Demo: We don't leave until the user and caregiver feel 100% confident operating the bed. We walk you through every button on the remote.
